22/2/2010 Landmark Leeds scheme nominated for Building award

Broadcasting Place in Leeds has been shortlisted for another prestigious design award.

Downing’s £50 million flagship university development has been shortlisted in the category of Project of the Year in Building magazine’s annual awards.

Broadcasting Place features 110,000 sq ft of new teaching and office space for Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU) and 240 student residences housed in a 23-storey tower.

In January 2009 the scheme, which was designed by Sterling Prize winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley, was named Best New Building in the Leeds Architecture Awards.

The results of the Building awards will be announced on 22 April 2010.
